Society Sucks

"I insist, besides, what kind of guy would I be if I didn't buy my date a meal?" Xzavier smiled, and heard Mac's stomach growl. He chuckled,"Even your stomach agrees with me!"

Mac looked at her feet and said, "Well...Um..." She trailed off and said, "okay, fine. Nothing more than a small." Mac rocked on her heels and muttered to herself something too quiet to understand.

Xzavier sighed in relief and smiled. "Alright then Mac, we'll be right back. Max, you come with me," he nodded, walking towards the snack bar. Max followed him, wondering what was up.

Mac leaned against the car and let out a small groan. "They are gonna find out sooner or later," she whispered to herself, watching the two order.

Mac looked at Xzavier while he was ordering the food. "Hey, do you think there's something up with Mac?" he asked, and ordered some food for himself. "I don't even think she had a snack earlier today, and she really didn't eat any lunch. Why wouldn't she take up our offer? Is she embarrassed to eat in front of us or something?"

"Well she's awful skinny, do you think.." Xzavior trailed off in mid sentence. They both said, "Nahh." In a unison and grabbed the food, taking it over to Mac.

"We're back beautiful," Xzavier smiled, and sat down next to Mac. "Here's your small order of food, just like you asked for."
"T-Thanks," Mac murmured, looking down at it hungrily. Stopping herself, she smiled at the two boys.

Mac turned down to her food. Knowing they were watching, she took a nacho and took a tiny bite. Mac felt a pang of guilt stab her in the stomach with every nibble.

Happily seeing that Mac was eating, Xzavier turned to Max. "When do you think that this is going to start?" he asked, and yawned a bit. "They're taking forever, don't you think?"

Max shrugged. Mac couldn't take it anymore, and handed the nachos to Xzavior, not even half eaten. "I'm full. Like I said, I had a snack."

"Mac....a snack is nowhere close to a meal, and you didn't have lunch. You've barely touched your food," Xzavier murmured, looking at the food she had handed him. "Are you alright? Are you sick or something? We can take you home if you aren't feeling well," he asked, purely out of concern, and gently placed his hand on her forehead.

"I had a fairly large breakfast, and a snack filled the small hunger I had before," Mac sighed. If she told them, would they help her or leave her?

"Mac..." Xzavier looked into her eyes, completely concerned. She couldn't be....no...he couldn't handle that.

"I told you, I'm fine!" Mac snapped, sternly. She sighed, "I'm sorry. I'm not usually this crappy."

{Idea: He had a sister who was anorexic and she died. Like four years ago and she was older than him. Good or no?}

"It's fine, I'm probably just being weird....just forget it," Xzavier sighed, looking down. He didn't mean to have upset her...it just seemed all too familiar. But if he even suggested it...Mac might get offended.

Mac's stomach growled again, this time for them both to hear. Mac closed her eyes and felt her self get red. Max looked at her and said, "Mac, I think you need to eat now."

"I told you that I'm not-" Mac began, but then saw the stern look in Max's eye.
"Mac, pick up your nachos and let's go on a walk, alright? The game won't start for awhile and Xzavier wouldn't mind saving our seats, would ya bro?" Max asked, trying to give him a signal.

Xzavier smiled a weak smile and said, "Sure, why not. But don't go flirting with my girl now!" He was just trying to lighten the mood a little.

"No promises," Max winked, and grabbed Mac's wrist, not giving her an option. Seeing that she hadn't picked up her food, he grabbed it for her, and began walking. Once they were out of Xzavier's earshot, he began to speak. "Now I don't know who the hell you think you are, trying to live without eating, but I want you to stop and shove some Nachos down your throat or heaven knows I'll do it for you."

"That's not the case," Mac said, her eyes shiny from holding back tears. She bit the inside of her cheek, knowing that tonight she was going to get emotionally hurt for the first time since she moved.

Max, sighing shook his head. "Look, Mac, you're a really nice girl. And sweet. If you weren't Xzavier wouldn't have asked you out here. And I'm sorry for yelling at you. But I know anorexia when I see it, and you know what I'm saying is true. Now I'm not mad at you for being anorexic. I don't hate you for it either. But I'm upset for my best friend who's back there. Mac, you can't try to live without eating. Sure, now you have a really skinny breakable figure and guys will think you're hot. But that isn't worth it Mac! You have no idea what Xzavier's been through, so don't go yelling at him for trying to make you eat."

"It was an accident," Mac explained, "And I'm not anorexic because I was guys to think I'm hot. You have no idea what I've been through."

"You're right, you haven't told me," Max said, sitting down on a bench. "Come on, if you're going to say stuff like that you may as well educate me. I don't judge people who are nice."
