"My point is that they won't accept us! I can't have anyone hate me!" Colby said.

"Oh really? Then what about those two Winds, huh? You think they're both crazy about you? I doubt it. And if you were so worried you shouldn't have said you liked me back. I know it probably isn't true anyways." Brent sobbed.

"Again, not my point. Look, I never told you this because I thought you already knew," Colby stopped and let a long pause break through.

"Alright then. How do you think we should handle this then?" Brent asked, wiping his tears off with his arm and calming down a bit.

"I don't know. I just hate to have everyone hate me again," Colby murmered.

"What do you mean by everyone? I've known you since we were two, and you've always been popular," Brent pointed out. "You're even a Bender."

"When I was never popular until I became a bender. You were my only friend, I was bullied, and I almost committed suicide but then I became a bender and everything changed." Now Colby was crying too, and he continued, "I just don't want that to happen again!"

"When the hell did you almost commit suicide?!" Brent's eyes opened. "And I've never seen you like that. You were always getting girlfriends, making top grades in the class, I was pretty jealous. Then you became a Bender at the festival last year, and you got even more popular. Who ever bullied you?"

I've been a bender for 4 years now," Colby commented, "And I over dosed. I was going to put a water gun to my head but I didn't have one," he sighed loudly and continued, "They hated me, for everything." Brent had stopped crying by now, and mumbled, "I'm so damn confused!"

It was obvious both versions of the story were pretty different. Brent remembered Colby winning the archery competition at the festival last year and becoming a bender then. But Colby said he was always bullied and was a bender for four years. Something was off, and it was pretty apparent. They were both best friends for almost their entire lives, how could the stories be so off?

(Okay we didn't need a narrator lol)
"Last year when I won, I was rewarded something different. I won 4 times in a row."

"Okay, that makes more sense. But Colby, why would anyone ever bully you? You're the most amazing person I know," Brent murmured, shyly smiling.

"That's your opinion," Colby said, "Everyone told me, 'You're worthless,' or 'Kipengele would be better off with out you!' or 'You're gay because the only friend you have is Brent' and everything else I remember like it was yesterday."

"I'm sorry Colby. I'm so, so sorry," Brent murmured. "But they're all wrong! You aren't worthless. They're jealous of you because you can kick their sorry asses at what they suck at. You're kind, and caring, and I don't know what'd I do if you were never my friend."

Colby sighed, speechless. (I'm stuck)

"Look," Brent started slowly. "I hate to say this, but maybe it'd be better for a little while if we...weren't together. I can't stand to think about anyone teasing you for this. Besides, you like girls too, so you could still be normal."

"I don't know. I do like you Brent, and I really don't mean to hurt you."

"It'd hurt me if I saw you in pain from being with me. I'd rather see you alive and with some girl, than dead as my boyfriend," Brent stared at his feet.

"Would it make anything awkward?" Colby asked honestly. Brent shrugged.

"It's a bit awkward that we dated for like, a day, but I can get over it. Really, I don't mind." Brent shook his head to get the hair out of his face.

Colby smiled. "Okay," he muttered. There was a rustle on the bushes that made then both jump in fear.

Luckily, a small rabbit jumped out of the bush, and both sighed in relief. "I'll see you later Colby, okay?" Brent said, already heading towards his house. His smile immediately faded, and the tears streamed down his face. He ran home, passing his mother indoors, and went upstairs to his room, dying inside.

Colby had a slight urge to go back to the festival, but instead he went home.

Brent's mother came up the stairs, hearing sobs from his room. She knocked softly on his door. "Brent, can I come in?" There was no response besides muffled crying, so she entered.
"Honey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing!" He snapped, pushing her away and scooting farther from her and turning around.
